We all have them. Some are scary, while some are wonderful. Where do dreams

come from? Why do we dream? And where do these dreams go?

Good questions. These are things that come to us not only while we sleep, but during

times we are awake also. Some call these daydreams and give them little or no

credibility.

Lets talk about the dreams of life.

When you were a kid, you had all these grand ideas, the cars you would drive,

the home you’d live in, the fabulous person we would marry.

What happened? Where did your dreams go?

Somewhere along the way, you heard “oh!, get real!” Not once; but many times,

and from more than one source. This all started as a kid, and as you got older,

you heard it more and more. Tragically, it began to take its toll. Your dreams

got put into the attic of your mind and almost forgotten.

No matter what your age now, you can still uncover some of those dreams and

go after them.

Yeah, I know, your much older now, or more mature, as some prefer. Whatever!

This may come as a shock to you; but, you still have the ability to choose your

future.

Think about this for a moment, if you didn’t still have a flicker of a dream left,

what are you doing standing in line to buy a lottery ticket! Good grief Charley

Brown!!

The most asked question is: What would you do if you won the lottery?

People then go off describing all the wonderful things they would do.

They’d put money aside for their kids education, travel, give to their favorite charity.

The list goes on.

You are sitting in traffic, and see the car you always wanted or a billboard of a

warm vacation destination. Off you drift. What if . . . . .

So, how do you rekindle those dreams you had as a kid?

First you have to stop listening to people who tell you it caan’t happen. They say

this for a couple of reasons. First, they don’t believe they will ever achieve any

of their dreams, and second, if you reach yours, you will have made them wrong

about it and will have left them in the dust, so to speak. This not good for their ego!

Enough about them.

Think for a minute back to when you were younger and some of the things you

wanted to do with your life. Dare to go so far as to write some of them down.

What would it take to start checking a couple of these of your list as DONE!

It’s time to take control here!

Think about your life right now, what gives you happiness? For many people,

this is a very hard question. They have given up on having things in their life that

are important to them. There are always other things that seem to get in the way.

The urgent seems to take priority over the important. Our jobs have become all

consuming. People are always checking their emails. Why? As if life would stop

if they didn’t for the next hour. This should be a wakeup call for you.

Question: What would happen if you put your Blackberry on the dresser with

your watch when you got home. The answer is – probably very little, if anything.

The world will not come to a grinding halt if you do this. Try it! I dare you!

Invest a bit of uninterupted time with your family, or whatever you choose. Not

being dictated to by some external object or person.

Now some of you will think this next bit is silly; but, it works!

Get a sheet of bristol-board and start to put together a “dreamboard”. Some of

the things you’d like to do, places you’d like to visit, and, even some things

you’d like to have. Some of these should be “out there” so they will force

you to stretch your thinking. Cut pictures out of magazines or brochures you

pick up. Another idea is to create a screensaver from screenshots you take

from your computer.

Keep this dreamboard in a place where you see it every day. this will force you

to look at it. It will begin to sink in.
